Campus Ministry at Clarion University
We’re here for you

Geraud Brumfield
Meet Geraud Brumfield:
Hey! I am Geraud Brumfield and I am the director of Koinonia Christian Fellowship. I honestly believe that I have the best job ever. I equip, train, and disciple student leaders to stand out on campus as leaders for Christ.

I graduated from Shippensburg University in the fall of 2010 with a degree in
Elementary Education. During my time at Shippensburg, I served in a number of different capacities—as a Bible study leader, resident assistant, special activities coordinator, camp counselor at Ligonier Camp and Conference Center, and substitute teacher in the Shippensburg area school district.

Now working with Koinonia, I have the honor and privilege of working alongside college students as they focus on their academics. My biggest goal is to show students that our lives, in all areas, are to glorify God. I also walk alongside students in Bible Study, weekly discipleship meetings, fellowship group meetings, playing racquetball and so much more. If you are interested in hearing more about my job or Koinonia, come check us out in Room 152 at Gemmell Student Complex on Tuesdays at 8pm.  We would love to see you there.

What does that funny word mean anyway?
Noun 1.koinonia - Christian fellowship or communion with God or with fellow Christians.

Meet our student leaders

Allison Winger serves as President

Picture
Allison is a sophomore from Knox, PA. She enjoys Ultimate Frisbee, reading books, and watching movies. She also considers herself to (sort of) be an adrenaline junkie. She chose to be a part of Koinonia because she wanted to get involved with an organization that shared the same interests that she did. She knew a few people involved in Koinonia and they gave her the advice to visit. She soon felt that she built a relationship with people through Bible studies, worship, and group activities. Since then, she has grown in her faith and has learned about God and His love. Through Koinonia, Allison has learned a lot about herself and she desires that God uses her to spread His love to her friends.

Hayley Bowders serves as Vice President

Picture
Hayley is a junior from Waynesboro, PA. She enjoys theatre, singing, and helping others. Hayley is a part of Koinonia because she had the opportunity to meet great friends. She says that Koinonia is also a place where she can worship with others outside of church. Through Koinonia, she has grown in her faith and now has been able to encourage others to grow as well. She is now excited to be a leader within Koinonia.

Ashley Reefer serves as Treasurer

Picture
Ashley is a sophomore from New Bethlehem, PA. She enjoys singing, playing her guitar, and just simply having fun. When Ashley isn't doing splits and front handsprings, she values a good sense of community. Her personality is able to capture an audience and gain respect from her peers. She decided to be a part of Koinonia because of the relationships she has formed with the community. Koinonia provides a place for Ashley to meet other Christians and challenges her to make a lasting difference on campus.

Tara Strine serves as Secretary

Picture
Tara is a junior from Millersburg, PA. She enjoys camping, friends, and family. When asked to give an unique fact about herself, Tara says that she was almost born on the same day as her mother. Just that alone gives you insight on Tara's personality and how she loves putting others before herself. Tara is a part of Koinonia because she felt welcomed by a group of her peers and has built meaningful friendships over the years. She also enjoys the fellowship that Koinonia
provides.

Our Vision: Encouraging students to pursue the fullness of Christ
Our college students are the politicians, business leaders, and teachers of tomorrow. We want them to gain a full understanding of the Christian faith today so they can carry a biblical worldview into their future careers.
Koinonia strives to have a God glorifying impact on the Clarion University campus and on the Clarion County community.

Our Mission:
--To share the transforming power of Christ with the Clarion University community.
--To establish students in a maturing faith in Christ.
--To equip students to embrace a lifestyle of servant leadership.
--To send out students who model the life changing love of Christ, impacting the church, community and
   world.

Our History:
Koinonia began in 1967 when a few students who were seeking growth in the Christian faith approached some Clarion County community members for help. The small group grew from a Bible study to a larger Christian fellowship where it became necessary to bring on staff members. We’ve grown leaps and bounds since those early days and our students now not only attend Bible studies but outreach events, missions' trips, conferences and more. Thousands of students’ lives have been touched by Koinonia.
"Koinonia has helped me through small groups and Bible study to see that my identity shouldn’t be defined by anything or anyone except by Jesus Christ. The whole ministry helped me to refocus on God."

“Through Koinonia I grew in my faith and leadership skills. This campus ministry also equipped me with the tools I needed to share the gospel with other people.”

What’s the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO)?
Koinonia embraces the CCO mission of transforming college students to transform the world. That’s why we partner with them in bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to the Clarion University campus. Along with the CCO, we share the message with our students that God cares about everything they do – He cares about the whole picture. Our students are called to be “restorers” in the way they perform in the classroom, play sports and even live with their roommates. With the CCO, we show our students that God wants to be the center of everything they are involved in -- not just their Sunday mornings.

Each year, many of our members attend Jubilee, the annual CCO conference that takes place in Pittsburgh, PA. We’re glad to be part of this dynamic ministry that strategically presents the Christian faith in a way that successfully impacts and transforms today’s young people.
